the hottest part of the day was up in the 100's, so it was very nice to go for an evening dip in the lake despite it's slightly tepid temperature.

we swam out to that buoy line, which seems close in the picture, but i nearly died. it was at least 5 miles away. at least.

erica made us a lovely cake which maren really did like, contrary to her facial expression in this picture.

i found a half-naked native wandering around the island...

then he went and got his other half-naked buddy to enjoy the fire...

casey and nick did a supertacular job decorating the place. it was so festive. there was even a palm tree :-)

our birthdays have now been thoroughly celebrated all around, and we can all go back to our ordinary lives.
i'm suddenly really not ready to be back here at school. yesterday was oh-so-exciting to see everyone again, to hug and laugh and catch up on summers... but now... ugh.
maybe it was just the over-exertion from last night. that near-death swimming experience must've done me in.

Wow! That's the best pic of Nick I've seen yet! What a joy to have you back with a camera! Did you get your cable yet?
Yes! Fun. Hey, we are here, likewise sweating! Starting classes on Monday, from 8-12, but here is the thing - Matt has campus ministry stuff in the afternoon, but I think I could drive down with the girls to your place and be there for the late afternoon sometime in the next couple of weeks - Haley said she really wants to meet you (again? I can't remember if you know Haley - somehow I don't think so - WEIRD AND WRONG!), and Ana said "Yea."
in the picture of you and nick, you guys look like island natives! that's so funny! your wavy hair looks very sexy island native girl. :)
